I've got a pair of vw's with similar problems.. CRANK but NO START.. ones a 94, the other is a 95.. BOTH 5-spds..The 95 is my winter car and I'm WITHOUT WHEELS right now and need help FAST!! The 94 is my baby and can stay parked til spring.. Had BOTH of these cars towed home 2 days in a rowTHIS week..I'm in OHIO and the weather is COLD, maybe related..Heres what I've done on the 95.. NEW dist. and coil pick-up, KNOWN good working coil from another jetta.. NEW plugs/wires/cap/rotor.. TIMING light flashes on ALL cylinders, so seems I have good spark.. fuelpump shows 12v for a split second when I turn the key on, then full 12v when cranking..Pulled the fuel FEED line at the fuel rail and have plenty of fuel flowing during crank.. NO fuses blown.. I've had my 94 for almost 5 yrs with no problems..I've had this 95 for a week, driven it only TWICE and have logged less then 60 miles since I bought it.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..help a guy out here.. I'm in desperate need of a car .. This is my 11th Volkswagen...PLEASE help a fellow vw owner to keep the faith!!!

*can codes be pulled easily on this car without a dealer?? mfg. date is 3/95 ( single diag. plug above lighter)

***ANY HELP AND ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY AAPPRICIATED!!**

I assume 2.0. Do you have a simple fuel pressure gauge to check the actual pressure? Just pull the small plug bolt out of the end of the fuel rail & slip the gauge hose over the end.

Well...got to be either spark or fuel. I suspect spark as with a reduced fuel pressure it would probably run but misbehave. Based upon the post date I assume you have this already fixed...what did you find? I probably would have to try pulling one of the plug wires off and cranking looking for the spark.

I purchased a 95 Jetta for my daughter and it has been a great car. At 140K the only problem is a small weepage of oil from the main seal after driving fast for several hours.

I've got one right now that does the same, sparks & fuel okay. The timing belt has stripped & it out of time now. You might want to check your marks.
