this this forum is alomost empty anyway.
do we need a Mod to close all of the threads.
any way,
what do you guys think i would need to do to my little 98 civic EX coupe
to beat a 5.0 rustang.
i would like to keep my D16Y8 and strengthen the internals.
do you think a super charger would do the trick or would i need to turbo it

To beat a 5.0 with that motor i think turbo would be the way to go, with a front mount intercooler. But if you u r goin to do that with that motor, it might be a good idea to do some motor work to make it last.

You should turbo it and build up the block and head. Someone out in my neighborhood has a 13 sec. civic and I ran into it one day with my friend. All I heard, saw was turbo whine and him taking off. So they can be made fast.

It really depends on what kind of 5.0 mustang you want to beat... a stock one? a modified one?
Stock it wont be too hard, ide say some good driving bolt on's and a 50 shot should pull it off pretty easily.
Modified one...well this is where things get complicated and well If you want to beat a pretty decently modified one your deff looking into a turbo kit or motor swap or both.

i will not be putting nitrous in my car so i would need other means of power. i know with a smaller engine people normaly use a turbe but would i be able to make enough power with a supercharger.

You are going to need to run at least mid-high 8's in the eighth to outrun stock 5.0's. But also remember that there isn't going to be a lot of bone stock 5.0's rolling around at the races.
