Phantom air leak

I was on my way to work this morning, at about 5a.m. and the outside temp is hovering right around 8 blistering degrees, with a wind chill to about -3,and I notice that even with the heater going full blast I still had a nasty little breeze coming in from somewhere. And before you ask,yes I did have all the windows rolled up, lol. Have any of you found a leak? This one I needed a winter hat coming to work.By the way I drive 40 miles one way and the car was warmed up and if I put heat to floor it will practically burn your legs ,so I dont think I have a heater problem. Any ideas? thanks, avfan

maybe a little monkey crawled up under the dash and chewed a hole in the firewall...thus causing air to leak into the car.
I once had an chimpanzee do that, but my mechanic said that monkeys are more commonly found doing this sort of thing. Plus, the monkeys go into hybernation when it gets below 10* outside.
Hope that helps out. Let me know if you have any other problems, as I know some good zoo keepers that could help you out.

If your metro isn't A/C equipped, they have a crappy little plastic boot that connects the blower motor to the heater core. I bet it either fell off, and is blowing ice cold air in by your feet, and only some of the air is goin into the heater core, or.. it has a bad foam seal. That foam is at the age where it'll leak cause it's so rotten. If it's leaking from around the old foam seal, put a wrap or 2 of duct tape to seal both ends. Common problem. Thats prolly why the heat is so hot in your metro too. at 0 degrees, the waffle size heater core will get cold. And it'll blow pretty warm air in, but not burning warm. But if not 100% of the blower motor air is going straight to the heater core, it'll never get enough air to blow a nice 80 degree heat.

Thanks for the info ,Iwill look at the fire wall and inspect for the plastic boot and also for monkeys. With any kind of luck it will be the boot and seal and fixable with duct tape, rather than the monkey cause monkeys are hell to catch this time of year.
Anyhoo, thanks for the tips ,I will post back when it thaws out enough to look at it.
