Ok my friend has a 84 Camaro with a 5.0. and he wants to put a supercharger or a turbo charger. Which would be best and then could anyone tell me what kind or something that would fit his car or something. We have no clue what will work on his engine or anything. Thanks much appreciated. Oh and I myself have a 78' camaro with a 350 in it what do you think is best for that. Thanks alot merry christmas

Most guys are gonna tell you to either trade it for a 5.7 Liter 350, which would probably give a better setup to mod anyway. If you're going to either super or tubro charge a car, most guys will tell you to supercharge an American car.

The 350 IS a better base to start with. More bang for the buck, and all...
Superchargers are preferred for street V8s because they make power on command. Turbos have a reputation for higher maintainence, as well. Turbos work as well, or perhaps a bit better, at higher RPM ranges in a mild engine. Blowers work much better at lower engine speeds.
Regardless of which direction you choose, CHANGE the heads on that 305. They are notorious for cracking. The later heads are better, and aftermarket heads are best...

centrifugal superchargers are great. they fit under the hood, you can put an intercooler on them and you still have a blower! aftermarket heads will take more advantage of the blower then the stock, same goes for the added displacement if you had a 350.

to take more of an advantage put in a 383, 400, or larger SBC. But realistically if you dont have that kind of money a 305 is just fine. Hell with a 305 you still have more displacement then the new mustang with only 281ci. You also have more then the 302 but they have 4" bore and you don't.

supercharge it because turbo's suck and are unreliable and they take hp to make hp. :D

Ok thanks for the info on the 84 305. On my 78 i dont really know. Its my uncles and he is giving it to me. All i know is its got a 350 but its whats known as the corvette package. Its got a 4 speed manual that has to be double clutched. Im not sure on anything else like if he put new headers or bored the pistons. If you have any ideas for my 78 that is great to i plan on getting started on that as soon as possible. i would really like to havea super charger on it and a blower out of the hood. Thanks alot if you have any ideas on blowers and super chargers or any other kind of mod to inrease horsepower or speed or traction for my 78 that would be great.
