caravan thermostat

hi,,
Any body know how can i change the thermostat in my dodge caravan 1997.where should i have to look for thermostat and if i can easily do by myself,or better i take my van to shop.

The thermostat is located under a goose-neck housing held on with two bolts. The housing is what the upper radiator hose connects to on the engine side. It is relatively easy to change, it fits snug is a slot recess. It is very important that the thermostat is installed with the proper (heat sensing) end facing the engine side. Also, some engines use a paper gasket to seal the goose-neck. Upon removal, if there are remnants of the old paper gasket present, these must be scrapped clean for the new gasket to seal.

thksDon't forget to drain the cooling system FIRST. If your coolant is less than 2 years old and you use a clean container, you should be able to recover 95% of the green stuff and put it back into the system. Otherwise, you might spill far more of the green stuff than necessary. If your coolant is more than 2 years old, you might also plan to do this repair in tandem with a full cooling system flush and coolant replacement as a matter of timing and convenience. Good Luck!
