Super Street = Maxim?

i started this thread in the magazine critic section of the forum but i dont think that area gets much attention so i thought i would get you guys opinion on the matter

i like SCC and modified. there is this new mag called drift battle its a aussie mag i found it in barnes a noble the other day and it was only the second issue it was a pretty good mag i though it was a great mag for it only being the second issue

yea i got the second one i want to find the first issue and then subscibe to it but it would cost a lot to subscrise to a aussie mag. logik u need to put the yallow car back on ur sig it was more plesant to look at

I haven't found a mag that I really like. SCC is okay, but I want something a little more technical without all the jive in the beginning. Just fix some cars up and race them. And list what you did to the car and how you went about it. Dsport is probably the best magazine I have found. Its more of a "How much power can you make?" kind of magazine. Still doesn't get techy enough though. Thats why I go on the internet:)

what about turbo and high performance or whatever it was called. Did you guys ever read that mag when it was out? If it is still out let me know, i cant find one around here....The only things we have for mags are SS, and like a whole bunch of "HONDA TUNING" mags....

where i live there is a couple of turbo mags i saw when i picked up my modified mag.

yea i like SCC and Modified. SS its getting thumbs down from me until they start talking about cars again. if there are any other good mags out there someone needs to let me know

I got to talk to Jimmy (used to be an editor for SS) at JGTC and he said quite a few people including himself when they restructured the magizine. He also said he got paid beans when he worked there.

Super Street even now usually only has one or two badass cars and then the rest is garbage.

Favs. Sport Compact Car, High Preformance Imports.

I barely read mags for technical stuff but when a mag has a tech section, I usually read it. I read stuff like Car and Driver, Sport Compact Car, and Import Tuner.

actually I changed my mind. I have a beef with SCC these past 2 months because there mag has been like 15 pages long. SS and Modified have like 7000 pages and cost less than SCC. And I flipped through it and out of the 15 pages a good 1/3 is ads still. So im not gonna buy it anymore til they start putting shit into it again. For now its Modified and Maxim.

its all about sport compact (its in japanes) nice pix and more nice pix of cars.

i'll admit it, i like SS. . .i dont care about the video games or music section cuz that only takes at most 3 pages out of 200+. . .i like them cuz they show u and talk about the best/new shit in japan (most of their cover cars) n if its not for SS, my room would be real plain (i got posters from SS) and i like their little Q&A at the end, i mean i know stuff about cars but it doesnt hurt to learn more

Import Tuner. Uuuuuuggggh. The worst...... I have to agree the new SCC is waaaaaaay too short. The USCC was about half of the magazine and the other half was the Evo vs Spec C. I liked the USCC but I would have liked to know the specific specs on each car, how much money they spent on each, why they picked the RWD Skyline to compete with, and why the hell a VW R32 and a Subaru 2.5l was in thier but a 240 wasn't. They even had two Evos. WTF? I have to admit my liking for the MR2 went up after reading that article though. Fear of working on it still makes me wonder.....

im at the point also, i bought a ss during the summer and regreted, and since then i wont even really look at them even if my friend is trying to show me something in them.

i always flip through the mag before i buy it. If it has some good sections on cars i like, ill get it...If i see tons of adds and stupid pages full of girls and hondas, i dont. Mags with chicks are cool, but not the ones that are meant to talk about cars.

yea SS is starting to get a bit ridiculous. they'll feature some badass cars, but in the articles about them, they're to damn busy cracking jokes about people on the staff. still i'll give them props for that one issue they did which was pretty much dedicated to sr20s and KAs, they had a shit load of info on there

They did have a lot of info in there, but also a lot of inaccurate info as well. They really don't give it up for the weekend warrior type guys either. The only companies they even mentioned in the KA section was Greddy and JWT. And the only Greddy piece on my car is my BOV and a decal.

i like the part in ss where u can send pics of your ride in and u can get it put in the back section with details for your modz, car model and make, future plans etc. Thats pretty kewl and i think more import mags shld do that cuz it give u a chance for your ride to get shown to people.(except on the last issue where there was a neon in thre and the guy said sumthing bout how there arent very many tuned neons on the road and i htought to myself theres a definate reason for that) hahahahah

the srt-4 isnt bad though

some guy that goes to my school has one, pretty quick, i've seen him beat some pretty nice GT's and a couple mach ones, found it really funny, runs lower than it came b/c he has done shit to it, but he told me he has been though 2 clutches and one tranny untill he upgraded the clutch to a stage 2 and better tranny, but thats off topic, i was looking for 240 videos again and came across this while we are on the srt-4 http://forums.nolarides.com/index.php?showtopic=10853 i was laughing :lol2:

one thing i noticed, in most of those in car drag videos, the srt's were getting beat, but not blown away like the subtitles was making them seem like they were.what was up with that minivan smokin the shit out of that yellow neon. i was too confused to laugh at that one, lol

xevn im prestty sure lgik was being sarcastic the srt 4 did get smoked by the cobra i think it was. oh has anyone read the new parts issue of SS i was actually impressed w/ it almost they actually have serious articles and what not but i noticed the article about variable valve timing was the exact same article they used like 2 years ago even the same pics and shit so thats kida gay but the parts issue almost made me a SS believer but they are in too much of a hole to get out of in my book

what black van but black is good i like black primer and its practicle bcause if it gets scratched who cares but if u do want to fix a scratch on it u just respray the messed up panel and it blends fine so its super simple i like it and i dont like it just cause SCC's prject silvia is flat black

im makin mine black primer this summer just cause my paint is all scratched to shit and black primer is simple and u dont have to take car of primer
