Depends on what size wheels and what tires. If by coilover you really mean just new springs, then its a bad idea. Your stock shocks will not last very long. Get some that include a new shock and spring. Also id say if your going more then 3/4 of an inch drop, a camber kit would be a good idea as well.

I think the camber is safe up to about an inch and a half. Anything more than that will need a camber kit.
If you want adjustable, then a full coilover kit is the way to go. Buy from a reputable company - you'll thank yourself in the long run. Tein makes very good products if you decide to buy from them.
AudioGuy93DelSol's right - you'll need to decide on what size wheels and your tire demensions before you'll know how far to drop the car and what setup will work best for you. Some coilovers will only drop you so far. You need to plan ahead so you'll know which products to purchase.

Figure out what wheels and tires you want, and then buy the coilover kit accordingly. If the kit's adjustable, you can lower it a little now with your current wheels (should look fine) and can fiddle with the ride height later once you get the new wheels. Shouldn't hurt anything or your current setup.
