New guy here. I just want everyone to know that even though I work on all my own cars I don't like it. I started an education for a career in automotive services and after working on everyones car so they wouldn't have to take it to a garage I got tired of working on cars. The only reason I still work on my own, (not that I am constantly working on them), is that I cannot find a mechanic that I can trust. I took my truck over to midas to get new brakes on the front and when they called with the $900+ estimate, I told them to forget it and then ended up doing it myself. I have tried three different mechanics in the last year and to be honest, I am giving up. I will be working on my own vehicles for the rest of my life. I even had to put a new clutch in my bike cause the wanted $300+ and the parts cost me $80. Took me an hour to do the job. I am not trying to sound negative about the whole automotive service industry but what I can say is, if you got a good mechanic, take care of him and thank him for the honest work that he does.
