Will an '88 CRX Si Engine fit in my '88 DX?

Exactly what the name says. I have a friend who is giving me an 88' CRX Si Engine, and I was wondering if it will just fit into my DX with no problem. Would I need a new ECU, transmission, mounts, or anything like that?? Thanks.

Its the middle of the night, it might take a couple hours for someone to reply

Im pretty sure it will fit... its just a d16 up from a d15... so its not a huge deal, but I'm still a new around here so the specifics are gonna come from someone else. You will want the pm6 ECU i THINK, don't quote me on that.

you need to convert from dpfi to mpfi and you need the pm6 ecu. i'm almost certain you can use your dx tranny with the d16.

well i am doing the same thing right now, well i was (mini me now) but yes it does fit, you can use any d ser tranny, so yes you can use your dx tranny. i would try to find the si but if not that's ok. if you can get the wire harness from the si then you can just plug and play. you have to have the injecter box so you can go from 2 to 4 injecters. so you need all that and the ecu but it could save much time and head pain if you do it this way

No, it's not plug n' play to use the si harness. It will not plug and play.

i was told it would if you have the ecu the injector box and the harness you can just hook it up that way.

The best way to do it is to keep the DX harness and add the wires that you need for the MPFI swap.

now do a SEARCH for the rest of the info

It just don't fit. Trust me. Trust US. We do know what we're talking about here (some of us). It will NOT just plug in. The crx si has a handful more wires including an extra plug at the firewall as well as 7 extra wires in the harness for the injectors and distributor. The dx doesn't have these wires. So if u go to plug in a harness that has more wires into a car that has less, the plugs and wires won't match up at the firewall. It WONT work. You have to modify the stock harness. This is swap rule #1:
99% of the time you will modify ur stock harness to accomodate for the swap. You don't swap your harness out for the other vehicle's harness.

because you need to add MPFI which is added wires and the si dizzy. generally i would sit here and give a full speach on what MPFI is and how to do it but i just woke up, L0L.

go to www.4thGenerationCivic.com>how-to>Performance>DPFI to MPFI conversion which is at:

i believe you can get a harness adaptor from places like www.ardperformance.com and if memory serves me correctly they recommend on a dx to get si axles when doing any motor swap.check on there site they seem to have a complete check list. even if you dont get it from them atleast they will provide the list you need then search and find the stuff cheaper on the internet(aka ebay)i hope this helps you
