i'm wiring two brahma's in paralell so it can run at .5ohms and the amp puts out 800wattsx2 @.5ohms,the problem is if i'm wiring them in paralell how would i hook them up to two channels(one sub per each channel). Also if i was to paralell one sub i think it will present a 1ohm load(correct me if i'm wrong) then i will be able to run each sub at 1ohm by hooking them up to seperate channels if i was to do this to both right?

are these subs dvc? is your amp a two channel?
for example, if you have two 4 ohm per coil dvc's and a two channel amp, you would parallel each sub together, creating 2 2 ohm subs, then if you parallel those together you essentially have a one ohm sub, when you bridge the amp and connect the sub, the amp will internally cut the ohm load in half, cause you are basically paralleling the amp's output.
If you run one paralleled sub at 2 ohms to your 2 channel bridged you will have power rating at one ohm, or you can run 2 ohm stereo with both subs, one to right channel one to left, this is sometimes a better way to go, but i need to know more to give better suggestion.

they are dvc and are 2ohm subs. the amp is a Audiobahn A2200HCX 2 channel. Now on the spec sheet the amp can run at .5ohms stereo putting out 800x2 watts. Now the thing is when i paralell the subs they will give me a .5ohm load and i wanted to hook up each subto each one of the channels to send 800 watts to each sub. or also what i was thinking is that i paralell each sub seperately to get a 1ohm load and hook it up, but it will only put 600 watts per channel and thats not enough for the subs(1600 watts RMS 4800 peak) neither is 800, but 800 is better than 600. Here is a clip from the specs sheet:
RMS Ratings: 200 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms stereo, 400 watts x 2 @
2 ohms stereo, 600 watts x 2 @ 1 ohm stereo, 800 watts x 2 @
½ ohm stereo, 1600 watts x 1 @ 1 ohms mono

Sorry not possible to get TWO 0.5 ohm loads...
With a DUAL 2 ohm voice coil sub you would get a single 1 ohm load... so you would have TWO 1 ohm loads, OR a single 0.5 ohm load... (say goodbuy to your Audiobahn amp as it goes up in flames with this load!!) or of course you could also have a SINGLE 2 ohm load but thats it my friend :cool:

yea, sparq is right, you would have to run 1 ohm stereo, or .5 ohm bridged, personally even if it says it can handle the load, I would not do this, I try never to go below 1 ohm loads, even then I don't like doing it and only will with certain brands of amps.
In my personal opinion i would series each coil to 4 ohms then parallel the two subs for a two ohm load, then run it to the bridged output of the amp to acquire the output of a 1 ohm bridged power rating. so this would give you your 1600x1 mono rating which is basically giving you the 800 per sub.
realistically you aren't getting that much anyway, even though this amp is fairly efficient you lose about 40 percent in heat and maybe another percent or two to wiring and connections. so you may get in the neighborhood of 450 watts per sub.
Keep in mind, power is nice to have, but is not sole dictator of sound. cleanliness and box design are the two major factors.
for example kicker used to make a sub (XPL) that required 100 - 150 watts max power, and this thing outperformed most other subs of that time. It took a larger size box then most, but the gains were well worth it.

Audiobahn amps DO NOT RUN COOL! I dont know who the hell told you that but they are full of shit! The only way you are going to get an Audiobahn amp to run cool, ESPECIALLY at 0.5 ohm MONO would be to strap dry ice to it! :flipa:
Its not a bad amp, but it is not designed to handle 0.5 ohm MONO loads, in stereo yes... but not mono, thats a 0.25 ohm STEREO load to the amp... VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY few amps on the market can handle this sorta thing, and they are designed SPECIFICALLY for that type of thing (usually amps designed for SPL where SQ from the amp dont matter and they basically deliver what is called a "square wave" to your subwoofers) not good on the ears, nor good on your nice woofers... I say you go 2 ohm mono, will keep the amp from running TOO hot, and still deliver the power and SQ... as typically when the ohm load drops, so does the quality!
