i have a 1994 honda prelude s, Last night i was driving, and when i shifted from 3rd to 4th, i accidentally went into 2nd and i went to 8,000 rpm (redline starts at 6,250) and i kept it at 8,000 for about a second, as soon as i noticed i shifted into 2nd i shifted into nuetral, and it was about 2 seconds....i was just wondering if that really harmed my engine at all?

i was reading somthing on the civic fourm (i think) with a similar situation.
they called it money shifting.
it is possible to bend your rods, i see if i can link it to the other forum

Actually its possible to bend your valves not your rods. You wouldnt be able to tell any power loss on an f22 anyway. Good luck

at least you haven't shifted from 3rd to 2nd while racing at the redline ... and worst of all ... against a civic you could have easily killed if you were concentrating :-/
