my antenna is very broke...
it seems that one of the gears is stuck or just dead. it gets about half way up and starts making this god aweful noise. i need to replace it but for now i just cant stand the noise. is there a fuse i can take out that will stop it from working without stopping something else too?
IT IS AWEFUL PLEASE HELP ME!

there really isn't a fuse you can take out. if you do, you lose the use of the radio. your best bet is to install an antenna switch so you can manually control the power to the antenna. i installed one in my 'Teg cause i never listen to the radio and it was annoying to hear that thing go up and down while i was changing cds.

if you want to stop it all together, just go behind the radio and snip the remote wire. or install a switch so you can control it.

Mine's broken altogether.
To make a long story short, something to do with a panic situation at the automated car wash and being the next to go in.
Now it's manually operated. (i.e. pull up and down by hand).
But that's okay - manual transmission - manual antenna, it's all good.

switches are cheap - i got mine at radio shack for $3. check this page out for how to install a switch: http://integra.vtec.net/geeser/antenna_switch.html

Thank you much....this will be a handy little project. Always feel like a dumb sh*t sitting at a stoplight with my antenna going up and down.
