Noone can have a yellow finish! or Tamiya Yellow spray never again...

Well, I just got finished emptying the FOURTH can of Tamiya yellow spray (TS-16) on my modena model. Needless to say I will never again use this *&^%!!! I can still see panel lines through the paint and will have to brush paint parts of the exterior because I refuse to buy anymore paint cans. Honestly, I have had much better luck with enamels, no kidding! So again, I am in the same predicament. What kind of spray to use to get a Yellow finish? Testors enamels are hard to work with, and now Tamiya has been ruled out. The auto parts stores dont carry a yellow automotive spray that I can find. The closest they have is a real pale yellow, but no true yellow. Anyone who has done a Yellow paint job, what is your secret? I have done hundreds of models, and only 2 so far have been yellow, even though it is on of my favorite colors on a sports car.

I've done a yellow Camaro. I used Testors yellow spray.

Funny I used that same yellow on the bottom of my Mugen ITR and it came out fine with one coat. :confused:

Buy another can of TS-16 and try again. :) Otherwise, you can't paint yellow no matter what kind of brand you use.
But this time, make sure you spray the undercoat after primer. The undercoat can be white for translucent colors like red or yellow. From my experience, I found tan more suitable for yellow because tan is very opaque. Make sure you thoroughly smooth the undercoat, then use TS-16, and you'll be happy that you want to hug and kiss the Tamya spray.

I guess I should clarify: All 4 cans of paint are still on the car! It seemes that the paint went on fine. I did the typical mist coats, only this time about 15 of them instead of the usual 3 or so! I even tried heating the paint a couple times, which usually works wonders, but no luck. It seems the paint comes out to fast. I started getting fairly decent coverage if i held the can about 2 feet away (!!!!!!!!!!!), but what a waste. The body was primed before I started, and it didn`t require sanding between coats. Why not TS47? I used Chrome Yellow on my Porsche 911GT3 and it's NOT translucent. 3 coats quite enough to cover all model

TS-16 is a bastard colour to work with.
I would change the shade of yellow to either TS-47(Chrome Yellow) or TS-34(Camel Yellow)

The blue is nice :eek: I don't like red cars much but of course Ferrari is an exception! That green thing up there is just a frog pretending to be a car. :D

Ferrari uses the green cars like that F50 for testing, i.e. crash testing...
