Radio Keyless remote problem

Ran into a problem today where my battery ended up not holding a charge once the vehicle has been shut off. Had the vehicle jumped to drive it the hour home from des moines thinking that all it needed was a little time of charging from the alternater. Here is where problem #1 arises. The factory stereo now only displays LOC on it and I cant seem to operate it at all. I get home and take my other car over to the parts store to get a new battery and when i put in the new battey neither of the keyless remotes will work.

Anyway I can fix either of these without going to a dealer?

Not knowing what year Grand Am you have, here are my general guesses. The LOC on the radio indicates that it is locked. This is an anti-theft device that locks the radio any time its power is cut so that if someone were to pull the radio out of your dash, it would be useless to them. If you bought the car new, you should have set a 4 digit code for the radio and written it down. If you bought it used or lost the code, you'll have to contact a dealer with your VIN to get a reset code. Make sure you write it down, because any time the battery or the fuse to the radio are disconnected, the radio will lock again. On the keyless entry, the first thing I would try is to stand near the car and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously on your remote. If the entry system still recognizes the remotes, this should re-sync the system and the remotes.

One other thing on the radio. You may have to check your manual, but on mine, you enter the first two digits of the code by pressing the HR button and the last two by pressing the MIN button until it counts up to the correct number.
