How do I get rid of engine noise with new subs...?

I just installed my bandpass box with 2 JL 10s and it sounds awesome- the only problem is that when the stereo is at a low level I can hear the high pitch engine noise in the background. How do I eliminate this?

I ran the pre-amp wires and power cable down the same side of the car, should I have seperated them? Will them being next to each other cause that noise? Thanks!

1) turn up the stereo
2) quit revving the shit out of your motor

you shouldn't hear it at normal rpms.

Thats the problem... I do hear it at normal RPMs. This morning I was never over 3500 RPM- I cruised down the freeway at 2800 RPM, and when the stereo wasn't bumpin I could hear that annoying whistling sound.

Just want my system to be clean... I'm sure other people have had and fixed this problem

Sounds like your amp isn't grounded well enough....
Two options... reground your amp with a shorter higher guage cable, or if you have multiple amps you might need to ground them seperately and make sure it's to the actual frame of the car. I'd reccomend an 8 guage wire less then a foot long if possible for these purposes. Or the easy way out, go to walmart or any audio shop and get a ground loop isolator and hook... that should take care of it.

Yea, I had that same whistling sound when back in the day when I had my system in the 85 Mercury Grand Marquis (Hoop T)!! My ground was shitty though and after I got a better ground, the noise disappeared.

its either a ground loop in which you have to change your grounding point or its the RCA cables are to close to the power cable and they are picking up interference. always keep your RCA's on the opposite side of the car then the power wire.

make sure to sand the area to the bare metl where you ground it... it helps.
