well unfortunatly the probe is on its last breath, im getting the dreeded blue smoke for my exhasut, its making wierd noises at times and the pick up is getting slower, the hi-milage and wear and tear is catching up to the car, it does have 162k on it, im gona miss her, i hope she lasts throughout the winter tho.. :crying: :crying:

so its time to look ahead, i,m gona need a newer car, so im looking for some thing with no less then 60k on it, and i dont want to spend more then 6k for the car, and it has to be realible, my parents are helping me this time to buy the car but not with much, i have aobut 3g's saved up they will match it, i have to pay my own insurance, ect.

so here are my options SC300 OR 240SX(s-14)
i would get a dsm but my rents will not help me b/c my pops doesnt like mistu.. (my damm grl cuz messed it up, she had a 96 eclipse gs and she never maintaned the car and it gave a shit load of problems, now my dad thinks all dsm are like dat.. :banghead: )

well the reason im choosing the sc300/240sx rouit is they are easy to come by, nice looking cars, and have a good aftermarket, the first mod to ither car will be a turbo kit, most likly a f-max for the 2jz and ka24, its the most complete kit i seen out there for the price, (240sx-4300) sc300(4500), the sc will need more work and is more expensive then the 240 but in the end the sc has more potiental then the 240sx, but the 240sx well be mad fast quicker and also i got TAT to guide me on the ka-t tunning, so im stuck right now, what do you guys say? sc300 turbo or 240sx ka-t?

btw buget after obtaning the car is no more then 6'gs over the course of 1 1/2yr...

thanks

oooh, definatly the 240... those are awesome cars and easy to mod. RWD is always fun too. You can get them much cheaper than 6 k and the motor's on them are pretty good... though personally i'd rather just go for a 300zx tt..

240sx!!! i told you many times man!! you ca'nt resist this car.

also ivan from nico is goin to be running 9's next season with his KA-T so don't automatically think that the 240 have less potential then a SC.

also as i told you on the phone many times. with 5.5K you can make your KA make atleast 350whp. most guys on NICO making that power runs mid 12's to high 11's trapping atleast 114mph.

haha tat you changed ur icon, yes that pic of you suits you well..
yea i noe ka-t man all the way, but i have to see my options, i still say a turbo sc300 would be bad ass, and id get more chicks(j/k) but im still undicided maybe when your car is back to 100% it will change my mind again.. untill then undecied leaning to sc300....

I say you should get the sc300 and turbo it even though it weighs more.

the SC300 is a nicer car, but it depends on what you want out of a car.

Sc300... if you're doin a 240.. swap in an RB25/26 ;)

Sc300, it's different.

TatII

well so far the SC300 is dominating, but remember, i know andrew, and hes not exactly what you would call rich. to build and maintain such a car esp if its turboed, will cost alot of money.

for practicality reason, and cost reasons, i would go with the S14. however if money is not a issue ( which it is ) i will pick the SC300.

Tat has a point about maintanence. The S14 would be alot more forgiving.

But if you don't care, Sc300.

:1: for the 240sx. RWD all the way (although i might be a bit biased haha)

The 240SX is on my list of favorite cars because of their versatility...although the SC300 would really be nice to see done. im leaning towards 240.

The N/T models have no Mitsu driveline parts. All Chrysler.
Get a DSM. :iceslolan

I'd say get the S14. Why? Because I say so.

haha thanks for the info, im stil leaning to the sc300, yea maintance is a pain in the neck, but in the long run the sc300 is a bad ass car, probably the closest things us mortals can have that a supra, but the sc300 will take longer to build and will be more of a $ pit then the 240sx, but i kinda want the next project to be long term, btw does anyone know of any members that have a turbo sc300 or of anyone that turboed a n/a 2jz? just curious to see how it stands up in Long run. but the 240sx isnt out of the question, but if i do a 240 the motor swap is a distant dream its gona be ka-t all the way..

DAMM its gona suck being boost less for months, its like going form boost to no psi.. im gona miss turbo soo badly and the sweet sound of my hks ssqv.. one day i will be boosted again, untill then i plan to baby my probe and enjoy the sound of low boost...

You keep saying get the 240 for RWD.. i'm pretty sure the SC300 is rwd too. I know the sc400 is, and the sc300 has a longitudally mounted inline six, which would be extraordinarily hard to make it FWD. Lexus would be flat out stupid to make it FWD with that engine positioning/chassis.
And yes, I think you should get the SC300. Hell, after doin some research on it for this thread, I want one now!
Look at these pics, I think they'll convince you:

http://www.intellexual.net/lex.html

Be sure to check out the second page with the engine pics.
Specifically, this one:

I think they're dead sexy, and I don't like many Japanese cars.

I say go with the SC. And about turboing the 2JZ-GE, just go to IS300 fourms or mkiv supra forums, I'm sure there are plenty of people who have modded the 2JZs.

0oo man those are the most sexy cars i ever seen.. so beautiful but so fast looking omfg, i think im in love, who ever said sc300 were not as good looking as a 240 was wrong.. o0o man these pic make me wana slap my mama. i thinking more and more the lex is worth the investment, but the damm poll says different..
thanks for the pic btw,

The poll is just everyone's all spoogey over the 240sx(and rightfully so), but I mean.. the lex would be a damn pimp car(sorry datsun boys, but you'd get far more ladies with the lex), and you've got a proven 3.0 inline (supra!) motor already in it with plenty of aftermarket support. I know I've seen some rediculously powerful supras... Both are RWD. The only negative in my mind about the lex is their kinda tough to find in manual, but I'm sure there are plenty of strong trans that'll bolt in place of the auto, since most supras have manuals.

sc300 is a nice looking car in my views but dont get me worng some 240sx are bad ass like the one that tat posted up.. man why does decisions have to be this hard,
also i was reading a expence sheet of what this guy did on turboing his sc300 (angles sc300) o0o man i think i was gona die with the price he came up with..

http://www.turbolexus.net/pages/records.html

check it out, its kinda discouraging.. but in the end i think its worth it, if i do this project it will be long and hard and difficuly but worth it in the end..

You need to MAKE your parents understand that the non-turbo and turbo models are completely different cars. The same basic body, that's it.

Us DSM'ers just dont give up, huh?

But seriously, they're night and day apart.

i doubt he will ever see my car if hes not from teh city. unless he goes to the tri state 240 meetings, then he might've seen my car, i will not describe how my car looks, but i'll just tell you this, it stands out alot. not because flashy though, i have no big wing, no stickers etc. the car just stands out in general.
