93 TBI starting problem

I have a 93 C-1500 truck with a 350 TBI engine. The truck will initially start, but dies after 5 seconds or so and continues to do the same for up to twenty starts. After a while, it just decides to continue running. For some reason, fuel is cutting out after a few seconds. Fuel pump was replaced this summer, fuel filter is good, numerous sensors, valves, and components have been replaced, (IAC valve, coolant temp. switches, ignition control module, 02 sensor, etc.) Haven't officially checked fuel pressure, but it runs fine after it decides to stay running. Need help.

A bad MAP sensor can cause this but hate to keep replacing parts hoping for a cure. Check around and have it scanned with a scanner that will monitor the various sensors. Might try unplugging and reconnecting the main connectors at the ECM, right side under dash, and see if that helps.

Thanks Tom. It ended up being the fuel pump. Too bad, because that means that the pump lasted a grand total of three months. Moral of the story:
If in doubt, go with GM.
If in doubt, go with GM.

There is a plug in connector in the top of the tank on many of these sending/pump units. Inside the tank no less. This can get corroded and lose connection, even get charred black. If you have any more problems you might dig into this.

Well, the truck is starting/running excellent after the new fuel pump. Off-brand fuel pumps just don't last, and this new one is GM with a lifetime warranty, so things should be fine. Thanks for the tips. Now I just need to fix the traction problem...
