Volkswagen is serious about challenging BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the ultra-luxury sedan segment. The new VW Phaeton is a contender that is a viable alternative to the S-Class and 7-Series. A new 6.0L/420-bhp W-12, 3.2L/241-bhp V-6, and a 5.0L/313-bhp V-10 twin-turbo diesel (TDI) are available engines. 4Motion AWD is standard on the W-12. A 5-speed automatic (W-12), 6-speed automatic (TDI), & 6-speed manual (V-6) transmissions are available.

Actually the Phaeton looks like a larger Passat with a V12.
It looks plain, and I would rather go with an S-Class of course rather than any VW, shouldn´t it be with the Audi badge at least? I don´t know why VW wants now to be upscale (It´s not good to change consumers perspectives about things)... it´s going to compit with the A8 also? Or they´re not going to offer it any more?......
