'90 LS question about replacing headlights with xenons - please help!

i have a 1990 ls400 and want to replace the stock halogens with xenon bulbs - ive been told by some that my headlights will melt because itll get too hot but some say they have them in and its fine. any help would be greatly appreciated - has anyone replaced their headlight bulbs and experienced problems? email is [email protected]. thanks!
