stereo crackling

alright heres the problems when im driving and i turn up the stereo i start hearing crackling as im turning it up and as i soon as im done turning it up it stop and everything is normal again its a 1995 525i

my stereo does the same thing but its just because my speakers are pretty shot, being factory and all......'84 533i.... maybe thats the problem with yours?

i have a 94 740i also but it doesnt do anything like that i love the stereo in that one but i think maybe its just a wire thats loose thanks ill check the speakers

The crackle is only on the volume control right?
It's dirt and crap on the control. Take it to a car radio shop and they will pop it and clean it in 5 minutes. Done this twice on my 88 528.

Radio Shack sells an anti-static spray that will fix this problem. Just take the tuner knob off and spray inside the unit.
