please why won't you work???!!

i have a sony cdx-m800 hu and everything works except for the screen display and lighted buttons. the hu is receiving power because the screen flips down, but no display. and no light. i don't know if it creates sound, because currently i have no speakers in my car. please help me!! :confused:

unfortunately, I would have to see it. Look at all your wiring and make sure you didn't blow a fuse somewhere (including the car). There are two voltages, the one that is on all the time, and the one that comes on when the car is on. It may do weird things if one is diconnected.

clean the connectors on the back of the face

I had a cdxm630 that was doing that to me on occasion, and it was a problem with the wires that connect the face to the actual deck... they came loose, so I returned it just before my warranty expired. Like tblake said, try cleaning the connectors, and if that doesnt do it, run your fingers under the face, find the wires and press them a little and see if that helps. If so they may just be loose. I got a new one and I believe my problem came from pulling the face when I was removing it to work on my setup.. so avoid that.
