Don't post random crap, i love, and you already said that in your thread.
Anyway, I have never heard of it, bud, sorry. I have heard of an RB20, 25, 26, VQ30....No RB30. Sorry I can't be of much help:(
If they were racing engines, that'd make more sense. Usually manufacturers don't put engine designs out in public for other companies to see. Sorry man.

The RB30 was a special RB engine for Austrailia. It was given to Holden who used it in the VL Commodore and Calais. It was available as the RB30E (non-turbo) or RB30ET (Turbo).
http://members2.easyspace.com/hotholdens/model/v/vl_commodore_1986-88.html
They were only SOHC. The RB30DET is a popular conversion as you've discovered using an RB30ET and the RB25DET's head and a couple of other parts.
They fit into the 240 like any of the other RB's. However, it is VERY hard to find/get an RB30 engine. Austrailia knows how lucky they were and aren't letting any out that I've seen.
The other issue, is if you got an RB30ET, you'd then have to get an RB25 for parts plus it's transmission (it fits/works in the 240 better then the RB30's would).
The RB26DETT is a good option, however, fitting the twin turbo is VERY difficult, most convert to a single turbo. With the RB26, you have to get the RB25DET's oil pan to get rid of the front diff from the GTR'S AWD (you can't use it). You also need the RB25's transmission, the RB26's AWD one won't fit and you don't have AWD. Trust me, don't even think about converting to AWD, it's not worth it. It'd be cheaper to import an R32 GTR.
My personal opinion is to get an RB25DET for the swap. It's a cheaper engine to get then the RB26, Don't need to get extra parts to make it work (head/oil pan). Parts are cheaper because they don't have the RB26's GTR price tag.
And when it comes down to it, performance is quite similar for normal street tuning. This is taking into account that the RB26 in a 240 is RWD only. Also not talking about monster 1000hp tuned engines.

I know bout the awd part wasn't even thinking that. Mckinney motorsports said that with there kit everything goes in smooth. You had find a radator, move the battary, and i think relocat the windshield wiper fluid thingy. Sports car compact i think had the issue 7 sinful swaps. It had the 240 with the Rb26dett in the back they had the install.
If its truley harder than they say please tell me i'll take my money and build up a sr20det up to the HP i want. Thanks

the RB30DET is made up of the RB30E block and RB25DET head from what I understand

Or an RB26DETT head if your budget allows. Bascially either will work as they are the same bore size. Some modifications are required to put an RB26 head on it though.

Im not exactly sure... but wouldnt an rb30 just be an rb block bored to 3.0L i mean the rb26dett is 2.6 litres.... and the rb20 is 2.0 litres.

I'm not 100% certian how much you can bore them out the max I have seen an Rb20 bored out was to create a 2.4l but doesn't leave much wall thickness. The max for a RB26 I have no idea the most I have seen was an increase to 2.8l.
The RB30 is a bigger blockto begin with.
hmmmmmm wonder how much you could increse the Rb30 to :grinyes:

The blocks are different. The RB26 is strengthened more. If I remember correctly, the RB20 can be changed to a 2.2 (different pistons/stroke) or 2.4 (bore and stroke). The RB26 can only safely be bored/stroked to 2.8. (This is what the race engines RBX were built to also). I have heard of the RB25 being converted to RB26, I think it's just a piston/stroke swap, but don't know for certain.
I have heard people talking about the RB30 being able to be bored out to 3.3. I found this site with piston kits available in .5 and 1 oversize:

hey,
I have a an rb30det which is going in my skyline gts
im in New Zealand
It is a very good engine on stock internals they handle 600+hp daily driver if tuned right. very easy to get large amounts of power of.
mine is a hybrid between a rb25de head and a rb30e block from a vl
