You have to take the hinge out to see if it's worn to far to replace just the pins. It's usually just the lower hinges that need to be replaced. If you take the hinge out and find it's too worn to replace the pin then you have to reinstall it and remove it again when you get the new hinge. If you are short on money do it that way and hope for the best. I put a value on my time so just replaced the hinge and got it over with. They take time to replace but if you have a jack to support the door, a set of short 3/8 drive sockets, a flex adapter and a 6 inch extention you can do it yourself and use the money you would have paid the shop to do it to buy the hinge.

For the lower hinge, open the door all the way and use the extention, flex adapter and short socket to remove the front two bolts. You have to remove the kick panel inside the car to get the back bolt's nut out from the inside. Be careful not to loose the nut down inside the panel or have a magnet ready. Don't waste your time taking hinges off of another car. It's a waste of time since they will be warn out usually as well. Bite the bullet and install a new one the first and last time!

The kick panel IS what you remove from inside of the car. As you sit in the car it is the plastic panel to the left of your left foot! There is one screw holding it in place. Remove the screws from the scuff plate on the sill and lift it up. This is the piece that runs along the bottom of the door opening. It holds the carpet in place and also the back lip of the kick panel. By looking at the new hinge you should be able to judge where the bolt of the worn out hinge goes through the body. You may have to move some wires around that are in back of the kick panel so that you can reach in and feel the nut that you have to remove.
