i need audio help

i just got a bazooka (yeah, i know but it's all you can afford when you are poor) amp (250watt mono) and 2x10" bazooka subs (this was all a package, so of course the amp and subs will work together). i am using the factory head, but that's not the problem. the problem is that i installed all the stuff and get no sound. i think it might be a problem with the converter. i have it spliced with the brown and yellow wires from the wiring harness on the head (had diagram). all the connections on the amp are good. i can't figure out why the signal isn't reaching the subs. there is power and no sound. please help!
