if it's just a lifter , pop the cover , tighten it up. not 'too' involved. oil change won't do anything for lose / worn and mis operating parts.

well i had someone else tell me i could do that but then someone else told me to do the treatment....the person who told me to do the treatment said it was definetly the lifter....it starts tapping worse when u get into it more....hopefully thats all that it is

my lifter went and it wrecked the cam($)

Sure its just ticking but mine started ticking very little then got worse then finaly started making a sqeuling noise like the alternator and it wrecked the cam so i just rebuiild the engine while it was apart.

on the other hand my truck was ticking on and off it would tick and engine would lack power than go away for like a month through some slick 50 and straightened it right out hasnt ticked for like 4 months yet.

well i hope that doesn't happen to me....i'm going to change the oil and put the engine treatment in and see if that works

even if it sounds like an internal problem it may be a small exhaust leak...just a though i had a similar problem before and it was nothing major, does this thing get beat?

I agree, you should check your exhuast for leaks really well. I have had a bunch of people come to me with supposed lifter ticking and the noise they are hearing is an exhuast leak. Investing in a mechanic's stethoscope might be wise so you can put it right on the valve covers and listen.

i didn't know an exhuast leak could make it sound like its the lifters, i will look into that, i need to change the oil anyways..has to be done,lol...maybe thats all that it is that would be good, i think my computer is starting to go in the car i really hope not, but if it is i will have to replace it..lol...for this car they are 124.00 which isn't to bad
