Shifter kit:

What is the difference between:
the cable stiffeners and
and Symborsky shifter kit

you haven't got a symborsky kit yet!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

OMG!! best 35 bucks i have ever spent! [ok, that lapdance was a bit more fun... but]

first of all GET the symborsky kit. on the base plate of the shifter itself there are 8 rubber bushings. 2 on each corner. there is also a tube that you replace with the same thing with a smaller inner diameter that holds better. you replace them with metal ones. less missed gears and it feels like a more solid shift. either way, definitly worth 40 bucks.

as for the other thing it is under the hood, if you look right below your water hose you will see the linkage fron the shifter to the tranny where the other ones go. same concept, and now that you pointed them out, i'm definitly getting some. for 10 bucks they are worth a whirl ;)

you can just use washers on the inside shifter plate. just stack em up until they are the right height. you can use rollerblade or skateboard bearings on the cable ends that hook to the transmission. much cheaper especially if you have them sitting around

thanks. I actually already purchased both, wil install tomorrow. so both things pretty much make shifting feel tighter and more precise, right?

totaly. don't get me wrong, it's not going to be completely amazing, but you are going to notice a VERY nice difference. coupled with a B&M SS this kit worked wonders. before i had a nagging issue with 3rd gear [which is a by-product of the 50% throw reduction] and with the Symborsky it was gone. and for the price, sure you could do it cheaper and i guess the 'real DSM' way, but for ~35 bucks i'm down. i've spent more on windshield wipers and i live in a place where rain is about as common as vikings landing on the beach and killing some hot beach bunnies in little bikinis and with big ol titties...

sorry got carried away... ;)

by the way... some son of a dung beetle knifed my top...left a great big tear. guess what he took? a $30 POS tool box. that motherfucker....

Is there any way to repair the tear aside from an obviously ugly patch?
