my car needs a new clutch and its gonna be like $500 just for the dudes to install it. Could me and my friend (both noobish mechanics) do this or should I just shell out the money to let the pros do it. It would be sweet to save the cash, but i dont liek the idea of tearing apart my tranny and then screwing myself over.

If you have never done it before then I wouldnt mess with it unless you have someone that has done a clutch swap on an eclipse/talon before there to help you! These cars are not just something you can go out and tinker with. Learn from someone who as worked on them then do it yourself.

yeah im beginning to find out how complex DSM's are. My dad's friend, who's a mechanic told me today that it would take 11 hours to change the clutch in my car, compared to 7 on a Civic. Oh well, I just have to get a job

Just do what I did when I was 14. I got my uncles old bug and tore that thing apart piece by piece and put it back together. Youll actually learn a lot but just make sure you have someone you can get in touch with if you run into a problem. Anyway, even tho those things are about as easy to put together as lego's it builds your confidence. Or if your still in high school we used to always work on our cars during shop class. Do as much as you can to your car yourself, itll build your confidence and after you burn out your new clutch put another one on yourself.

11 hours to change a clutch? WTF is that guy smoking maybe if hes super lazy and has 1 hand. I know it dosent take that long i mean even for somebody that isnt as experienced and stuff with that. I know it took jake like less then 2 hours to do it so somebody that dosent have a lift and maybe isnt as experienced can atleast do it in 5 or 6
