2004 Passat potential remote starter problems

My wife wanted to install a remote starter on her 2004 Passat auto transmission. The shop she went to said that they have diffuculty adding after market remote starters in Passats. They will do it but they will not warranty it or be responsible for other problems that arise. Has anyone else had any experience with remote starters on Passats and is this shop giving her the right information?
