Hey,
I'm new to this forum and like it so far. Found some answers to questionable activity of my Lincoln LS V8 Sport.
Basically I have a question about the hold down bar for my battery. The bottom of the trunk where it is supposed to attach to has no more tread/nut type thing where the bar screws into, and therefore the battery is actually just loose in the trunk. The :banghead: dealer tried to rig up a way of holding the battery tight from the side mount for the bar but this makes it difficult to remove the battery should I need to access it, and it seems unstable. I am wondering if this has happened to other people, and what solutions have been arranged if it has. I am thinking I could weld a nut to the bottom of the trunk to screw the bar into...any ideas?

not certain if I am thinking of the same item you are explaining but if you have a set of taps you might be able to go a size up and find a new lag bolt.

there's a bar that goes over top and then down the side of the battery. You are supposed to be able to unscrew it from the bottom of the trunk when you want to take the battery out...there is no place anymore to screw it to the bottom of the trunk. There is no hole on he bottom of the trunk, it looks like there used to be a clip or something that it screwed into that broke off...

mine sits in a plastic tray and have not taken it out yet but it looks like it might be a 3 piece system that holds it down. The bar accross the top, a bolt that appears to screw the bar down into a plastic wedge that connects to the tray.
I will take mine out tonight. Sorry I am not much help hopefully someone that has had there batt out will pass through.

Still running the original 5 1/2 years later... Never even needed a jump, so I can't help...sorry.
(I'd go out and look, but my trunk is full of Christmas presents and it's 8 degrees outside.)
