I replaced the fuel pump in my 1998 jimmy, and now the gas guage doesn't work. It was fine before i had the replacement done...any suggestions on why this happened, and what i can do to fix the problem? Thanks, Donna

I've got a 97, I know there's a plug above the tank but it's in a real tight spot. maybe the mechanic forgot to plug it in? then if that's ok then maybe a module found in the glove box. I had to have that replaced about 2 years ago, my feul gauge died as well.

Sending unit probably wasn't grounded out properly or a connection is missing.

I just replaced my gas tank in my 93 Jimmy and the gas guage is out of whack. I think the float may be stuck on the new fuel screen I installed. I haven't taken it apart (again) to be positive, but I will let you know.

My gauge says it is full all the time...would that be a ground problem? I thought if the resistance is high (which is would be if he ground is bad) then it registers full...
Think it is the ground or the sending unit?
thanks

Could be, or the sending unit itself has gone bad.
