Tail gate

Does anyone out there have any trouble with their tailgate latching without slaming it three or four times? I have tried to shoot wd40 in the latches and doesn't seem to help. 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD

it is not in the latches it is in the handle assembly, shoot some lub on the pivot point for the rod levers on the handle assebly and work it a few time, use a screw driver to push the rod levers all the way out a few times this sould take care of it

Just wanted to say thanks Mike for the tip on closing my tailgate 2001 silverado. I took the handle apart last night shot some lube in and worked it back-and-forth...problem solved!
