Having some problems getting the car started. It might be the starter motor. I'm taking the car to the Infiniti dealership tomorrow, and I know if it is indeed the starter motor that has failed, the OEM replacement will probably cost around $300+. Plus labor. :bloated:
Do any of the cheapie auto-shops sell starter motors for a early '93 G20 for significantly cheaper? I looked up some on carparts.com, and came up with $240+ on rebuilt ones. Checked e-bay and nobody is selling one. I assume that the G20 could use the starter from any of the other SR20 engined cars (SE-R, 200SX)? Thanks.

If you are mechanically inclined, change it yourself. It will take you 3 hours, start to stop. Don't get ass raped by the dealer. Also, I bought my starter from Checker Auto for $140 with a lifetime warranty. But yes, all starters are the same for the SR motor.

Well, just my luck. It is the starter motor that is faulty. Dealer quote, including labor-$502. :bloated: I'm going to ask them if they will let me provide my own part, in which case I'll probably go with something like kbslacker mentioned, with the lifetime warranty. BTW, I'm not mechanically inclined. :(
On a positive note, my insurance doesn't cover a rental vehicle, but Infiniti gave me a 2001 I30. :D Damn, that thing is sweet. Nice stereo too. But with that auto tranny, is surprisingly slow. Except off the line, I don't think its faster than my '93 G20 stick. Too bad they don't use the I35s yet.
