I found a 93' Prelude in my area finally. Its 3999, which is 999 above my limit but i think i can get it anyways. I remember reading something saying that a Si cant be a vtec but this guy put in the description that its a 93' Prelude Si Vtec. So im not sure if this guy is just a little stupid or what. But im wondering if it is even possible. If so around how much hp do you think it is pushing. Should i buy or not? Any info appreciated.
Thanks for your info

Well, there are a couple things you can do to check if its really a vtec.
1) Look under the hood, if the valve cover says "DOHC VTEC", then its vtec.
2) Interior. Is it leather? If it is, its likely a vtec. Some vtec's came with cloth, but leather interior is almost a surefire way to check. Some Prelude "SE" models came with leather, but those are rare anyway.
3) Automatic or Manual? vtec's only came in manual.
4) Check emblems. vtec models came with a sticker on that back that says "DOHC VTEC".
5) Easiest way. Run the vin on carfax.
4th gen vtec preludes came with 190hp.

y didn't Honda just name the VTEC...Si-R or something...well I would check for a 7 speaker audio system rear wing light, pinkslip, and the other things these helpful guys have already mention..

I own a 94 Si so I think it should have a similar layout as mine. When you open the driver side door, there should be several stickers where the door would lock on to the body of the car. There should be a sticker that says which type your car is. Most likely, the car is a Si and not a Vtec and the guy just threw that out there to attract buyers. Checking the engine block is another good idea. The engine type should be engraved beneath the heat shield and to the left on the bottom of the engine.

Look at the tach - if the redline is near 7300 its a VTEC, if it is near 6500 it is non-vtec (assuming it has not been swapped). Some people call the 4th gen VTEC's "Si VTEC", technically it's not wrong since the VTEC really is the only difference between Si's and VTEC's.
