Was going to start a project car. Wanted to make a 92 Camaro w/a 442ci BB. Is this an easy job, or would you recommend using a dif engine and/or year?

Dude..don't put a 442 into a f body , just get a crate 383 or 400 sb and do it up that way , the 442 is a big block which means it will eat up the limited space in there , you won't have room for shit else. I had a 305 and I swapped it with a 290 hp gm crate motor. plenty for a fbody...haven't really been beat yet. a 350 should be plenty but if you are power hungry for bang to the buck , get a 450 hp crate 383 and drop her in there , you ca get one for about 4G brand new and about 2.4G used .
I think though ( as do a lot of people.) that the 350 will carry your azz just fine. i have no regrets about putting it in. I don't really even neev another engne. You can get enough stuff for a 350 gm motor to pull some insane ponies out and keep it emission / street legal yet have a feirce and scary drag machine.Sides , if you go with a big block , as soon as you mash , you can watch your fuel guage drop. Drive that for about ten years and you'll put more money in gas into that car then mechanical parts and labor.

It really depends. On a big block you have to turn less rpms to make similar power numbers.. 400 HP on a smallblock might be at 4500 Rpms where it would be say 3k on a big block. If your wainting to drop a big block in your car, gas comsumption obviously isnt very high on your list of priorities. Even with that said, I would personally drop some kinda of stroker motor in the car and be done with it. Swapping to a big block is gonna be a huge pain in the ass if you decided to do it. :2cents:

LOL go buy a Motown small block 454 in there. you get all the power of a rat in a nice small block package. WHAT IS A 442?? Do you mean a 455 out of a 442? Where did a 442ci BB come from??
