Okay, i just recently found out that my stock headers have a crack in them after removing the heat shield, i plan to get a STAR2 Stage 2 turbo kit for my 1996 Eclipse GS, should i buy greddy headers then put the turbo kit on? or just replace the cracked headers with stock ones? please help me out.

well first off, our cars don't come stock with headers, it's a manifold but i'll go light on you because you have it right in the thread title. it all depends on how long before you're going to get the turbo kit because that crack in the manifold is just going to get worse and worse. if you're going to bet getting the turbo kit soon (within the next month or so) i would jsut wait but if it's going to be any longer than that i would just get another manifold or an aftermarket header to put on there until you get the turbo kit. like i said, it all depends on how long until you get the turbo kit.

okay, im getting the turbo kit within a month, should i just keep the stock manifold until i get the turbo? or buy a custom manifold to go with my turbo kit?

i would just wait and get everything at the same time. it wouldn't necessarily be a waste of money to get the manifold right now because you'll be using it later on, but you won't be able to run it because it won't bolt up to your downpipe without the turbo being there. to run the turbo manifold, you have to have the turbo on, you can't just run the turbo manifold with no turbo. otherwise your other option is if you can find a cheap stock manifold around to put on until you get that turbo kit you could do that to to ensure nothing goes wrong with your motor.

well for starters you're going to need an aftermarket boost gauge and how much boost do you plan on running? i think you can run between 6-8 safely on a n/t, any higher and you're going to blow your engine to pieces. if your car is a manual i would also look into getting a clutch kit and maybe a short throw for drivetrain upgrades. maybe also an lsd too. it all depends on how much boost you plan on running.

well like you said, i only plan to run 6-8 psi, because i PLAN to keep my engine, but i just need to know the other necessities if i wish to add a turbocharger kit.

then from looking at the turbo kit, all you'll need is an aftermarket boost gauge and some injectors. you never said if you have a manual or not, but if you do i'm not sure if your stock clutch will hold up to that or not. but for starters all you'll need besides the turbo kit is a boost gauge and probably some bigger injectors.

sweet, yeah the turbo kit said that the engine can be completely stock with exception of an aftermarket exhaust system, and it can run perfectly on all the stock internals, but in taht case, i would just need some larger injectors, and possibly a better clutch (my eclipse is in fact a manual) and a boost controller?

yepp, that should get you going for awhile anyways. also don't forget to post your car in your signature. make sure to put:
what car (eclipse, talon, laser)
the model (rs, gs, gst, gsx, spyder)
the year
and also any mods that you have.

you can make a signaute by going into your user control panel up at the top of the page kind of to the right of the center on the page. also check your pm's. i sent you a message.
