hey everyone thanks for all the help you have provided me so far. yesterday at the bank i noticed that my truck was making some funny noises when i was at the drive through. the reason i noticed the noises was because of the brick wall next to me echoing the sound. it was a wierd noise that is extremely hard to explain or maybe i just cant think of how to explain it. so i rev'ed my engine a little to see what the heck it was and when the engine was on its way down from the rev the noise got louder but then when there was no more power being supplied the noise stopped. i repeated the process and it happened again. im guessing its the fly wheel or at least hoping thats the case. im not exactly positive what a fly wheel does i always thought it evened the power or something like. later that day it seemed to sort of jump so to say when you started out of first gear it seemed like the power going to the tires was choppy. im not sure but any help or advice would be really good. thank you.

Well I can't tell you what it is, but I can tell you that it isn't your fly wheel.

It's probably a good thing, since you either have to drop the transmission, or raise the motor to replace any fly wheel

A fly wheel is more or less a disk shaped object that helps hold the clutch plates against the motor.

It's also the object (with gears all around) that the starter uses to turn over the motor.

Some motors use Fly Wheels to help balance them, and then you will see weights on them

Automatics have something simular called a flex plate, that bolts up to both the motor, and the Torque Converter... which I won't explain.

The first thing to do is pop the hood, and listen to where the noise is coming from (the front of the engine, or the back).
It might even be further back.

Then we might be able to help you out from there

Good Luck
