i just picked up a b18a1 for really cheap and it is in excellent shape...couldnt believe it...

anyways im looking at buying lower compression forged pistons and forged rods...

but i saw that quixilver used b16 pistons and rods in his b18

what is the benefit to this and how does it affect the compression ratio???

as well...might be a dumb question but by getting lower compression pistons if i didnt turbo would this affect the torque/hp of the na motor and by how much??
i know yes but would just like another opinion

anyways im looking for absolutely any information possible about the b18a into a 91 civic...and i have read every post that i could find...

thanks

Mike

I dont know too much about the b-series. but im guessing that the b16 pistons are higher compression that the b18. meaning that their better for an all motor set-up and will give you a few hp. As for your "dumb question" lower compression pistons will end up with less torque and hp without the turbo. dont go lower compression unless you definitly plan to use some sort of forced induction or else every penny you put into building the motor will be spent on making it slower.

Ya there would be no reason to get low compression pistons if you werent gonna turbo. Keep searching for b18 swap and you will find out how to put one in a 4th gen'
