3 speaker to 5 conversion 94 bose

I have a 94 z28 with the 3 speaker bose system and want to install 2 more 6 1/2 inch speakers in the back side panels where the holes are.

What am wondering is where can i wire them too and what would work the best. I was thinking of just runing some wire to the front door speakers and splice into the amp or wires from the front speakers.

Would this work or is there any better ways of doing it without having to replace the head unit or buy an after market amp.

aftermarket amp will be your best way , if you only want to install some aftermarket 6 1/2s then go with a puny 200 watt 2 channel amp and run those that way , do a 4 way split system off the line drop ( or if it came with rca hookups ) and run it to the amp. A line drop will allow you to convert the high voltage wires to a lower voltage rca connection so the amp can ready the signal properly. To do that , I think they are like 15 bucks at best buy or ultimate electronics , mine was anyways. Anywho , you just tap it right into a original speaker line , solder , use quick connectors , strip and wrap however you want to do it, ground the box , throw some rcas on it and hook up the amp , I had to do this with my mazda 6 to get a system in it due to the fact it doesn't have the capability to do a aftermarket deck.

Yeah , even though stock decks only put out like 17 watts per channel , the speakers won't suck enough out of the line to stop them from functioning , even with a splice.

How big are the stock BOSE speakers that are in the front? I just bought a pair on ebay, hoping that they will fit in the back. Although, it's not really that big of a deal if they don't then I'll just have two spares in case I blow a speaker.

Are the speaker holes in the back for 6 1/2 in speakers? Cause I think that's what size the front ones I just got are

you need to get a new deck, point blank, that radio that comes in there is a piece of shit. get you like a 50x4 cd player for 100 bucks, and run new wires under the carpet but above the stringy insulation stuff under it and then to either side behind the panels. tip: if you can leave some of the rubber stuff that covers up the vacant speaker holes when you install your speakers, just enough to take up any dead space, it will sound much better all sealed up.

if i get a new deck do i have to run new wires to the front speakers and sub or can i use the old ones. Ive heard people say the amplified speakers sound shitty on a differnt deck do i have to replace the front speakers and wires too.

the wires will be ok, the speakers will work, but i would highly recommend new ones.
