GSX Wheel Bearings

Ok, is it just the GSX that has high maintanace or is it all DSMs too? i had my 98 Eclipse GSX for a year and a half, and i've just replaced 3 of them wheel bearings. (both of the fronts, and the rear right wheel bearing) the total cost to fix it was $500 each at the Mitsubishi dealer shop. (total spent on wheel bearing: $1500) Can anyone tell what causes it? it makes this woo woo woo sound... lol... damn it...

pulling up the e brake will make them go out drifting will make them go out anything that puts alot of presure on them will make them go out and i bought my wheel barrins for 250 a piece at auto zone

driving fast and taking fast corners will wear them out faster. how many miles does the car have one it? you're supposed to replace wheel bearings after so many miles anyways. the woo woo woo sound is the wheel bearings that have already gone out or are on the way. i don't like to go to the dealer to have things done to my car, it seems like dealers always fix what "COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG WITHIN THE NEXT 10,000 MILES" but isn't broken yet, or even looking like it's going to but that's just my opinion. it always seems like dealers charge way more than they need to. the only things i get at dealers are things that regular parts stores don't carry, otherwise i used autozone, napa, or any decent parts store.

if you have poor alignment ex: having a toe in ,camber is off , or steering alignment...can cause the bearing to wear much faster...take it to an alignment shop every so often ...this can save you money in the long run....

I've had 2 of them replaced, first it was the passenger side front and I bought that one for $150 through our school's vocational program and my friend replaced it for me and then just a few weeks ago I got around to replacing the driver side rear and Mitsu wanted $550 so I told them to shove it and I got it done at Midas for $350.

if you cant change a wheel barrin urslef u dont need to own a car....
its as easy as changein ur brakes just need air tools to get ur axle bolt off

yeah, i'm glad i can do 95% of my own work. i bet i've saved myself over $5000 by not going to the dealer, or any shop at all for that matter. and it helps to have a shop to work in too.

what other shops fix wheel bearin? well the car only has 46,550 miles, and ever since i got it, the wheel bearings are the only thing i have problems with. Anyways, thanks for the help guys.

I had replaced both front wheel bearings by around 60k miles. I paid 90 for the part through the dealer and changed them myself. There is no reason they should be charging 500 each. I would kick em in the sausage next time you're there. ;)
