idle surge

I just bought a 91 bmw 525i. Everything was hunky dorey until just a few days ago. Now I get idle surges, and sometimes a rough feeling when I put it in gear (automatic.) I also recently ALMOST ran out of gas (Yes, I know better, especially on an older car.) and I wonder if there is some junk in the injectors, or is this an idle setting problem.Thanks!

I have been told that diconnecting the battery for a while will reset the on board computer back to factory default. I would also recommnebd that you use a injector cleaner addditive into your fuel tank. If none of these work then you may have to seek professional help and have the injectors removed and cleaned.
