strong vibration

I was wondering about that, but the drive shaft is still there and the u-joints appear intact, how could I tell if that's the problem, jack up the back and run the tranny and watch? Can I tell by moving the drive shaft by hand and look for play? The back U-joint has a lube nipple, should I try lubing it? Thanks for the reply, I was wandering in the dark, been 30 years since I played mechanic. THANKS

You could try lubing it, it might help, but it depends on which joint is bad. Good luck and let me know when you get it fixed.

Just get underneath your truck and try twisting the driveline. If there is any play in the line - one of the U-joints is bad. They are cheap and an easy fix. Good luck!

Hey,
Thanks for the info, it turned out to be the universal joint just before the Universal. I'm knew to this forum and I'm already very happy about joining, good folks here. Thanks again.

Hello,
Thanks for the great advice, I was trying everything to see where the vibration was coming from but the U-joint had escaped my mind. I replaced a few of them 25 yrs ago when life seemed sooo much easier, mechanic wise. If memory serves me the old U-joints were bolt on, the new ones are pressed on, then pinned and God knows what else. I had it done by my mechanic, in less than 60 minutes and parts and labor were only $103. not too bad. Now about those new spark plugs, what the h*ll is going on with them and how do I change them???? thanks again for your help, great slogan you got, too.
Merry Christmas

I'm glad to hear you got it fixed before it snapped off.
