I am looking to purchase an '87 944 N/A that I found in great condition. I have never owned one these beuties but have always loved the way they handle and their looks (its somewhat of a child dream). I wasn't in a market for a car, but after comming upon this one I got really interested in making my childhood dream come true. So, it is an '87 with 70k and its in metallic burgundy with tan leather. It has all the records that show the complete belts change at 60k as well as a new cluch and a water pump. Its in mint condition (exept for two cracks on the dash as they all seem to have, and a very small crack on the steering wheel) and the owner wants $5500 for it. I was wondering if this was a good price for such a nice condition car, or would I be overpaying?
Thank you in advance for all your help

Spend the few extra dollars to have a reliable PPI done. If everything checks out kosher, you will already be ahead of the game as far as repair costs go. Not much is cheap for these cars, and a solid buy that you pay a little more for initially is MUCH better than needing a new clutch, control arm, or any other myriad problem that can cost 1000s to fix. That's my .02.
