i have been hearing a lot about greddy exhaust systems, and i have a questions. I heard from several people that greddy exhaust were guarenteed not to crackel. Now i'm not sure if they meant one style of exhaust or all of them made by greddy. I am leaning towards saying the new sp2 doesnt crackle, but please dont post unless you know the truth, or if its a myth. thanks

I believe he's talking about the ricey tin can sound. Most of your name brand exhausts won't do that. Greddy SP systems supposedly sound much like a stock system with a little more agressive lower note. RS*R ex mag is also another good system. I think that is a very quiet system but I haven't heard it so I couldn't tell you. Highly rated though.

common since on what "crackle" is you know when people buy these $30 mufflers and take off you dont hear a nice deep sound, it is very high pitch and sounds like shit. or more like a pissed off bee like sound, use your common since i know you people have it...excluding nissanfanatic because he comes close to answering my question. once again thanks

Now that I know what you're lookin for, you would be happy with Apex N1 duals. Probably a N1 single too, but get the silencer. Greddy is a little on the quiet side. Apex exhausts are pretty deep.

Link works, but thier link doesn't seem to work for my computer. I would right click and save, but my slow ass dial up isn't cuttin it. I'll try to listen at work tomorrow. I bet you're wanting something like the HKS or Greddy SP. Oh well, back to Static-X....

ill tell you what, ive heard tons of cars and different exhausts, and while the dual n1 sounds good on 240's, the blitz nur spec 3" cat back is f*cking awesome. very deep and throaty, add a 3" test pipe, and it will sound even better. it has absolutely no crackling at any rpm, and makes your car sound like a monster.

not really backfire, but it burbles when you let off, and a few deep booms

Most cars do backfire a little. It's not the exhaust causing it. The free flowing exhausts just help you hear them better. Take off your cat. and see the difference. You will not believe all the funny little backfire noises come from your motor. It's all normal though, and nothing to worry about. I personally think it sounds pretty cool. Also if they are really loud pops, you might have a problem. My 1964 truck when I got it had a 1970 Corvette 350 that was straight piped. One of the spark plug holes was stripped and while seeing how fast the truck was after the hard acceleration I started to slow down and then a pop came out of the exhaust that literally sounded like a shotgun. Anyway I thought someone might get a laugh out of it. It scared the shit out of me. That R32 GTI sound really nice though. It's a good goal but I don't think you will be able to get that exact sound. 240's sound good though, not like Honda's.

Yeah, I know it's the engine, but when he said the Blitz ones don't crackle I thought you didn't hear engine sounds, lol.

i just did a quick search for that blitz nur spec, is it available for the 89-90 240sx? or is it just 91+
is there even a difference in exhaust setup between the 90's and 91's?

the answer: it depends. thats like asking which shirt looks best.. they're all good, you just gotta pick the one that suits you the best

lol i wasnt asking what one would be best, let the other guy, i was just curious and wanted to know which ones sounded better on the 240 because there is only one nice 240 where i live with a turbo and i never see him anymore, though everyone else says they do, when i run into him im gonna ask him what kind of exhaust he has. :smokin:

sorry about the misunderstand loqik however you spell your name, but im looking for a nice deep sound close to the link i posted on the first page, ok if it backfires a bit, but i dont want to spend $500 on exhaust that sounds like shit if you know what i mean. but like stated earlier when you spend that much on exhaust you tend to be happy with the quality.

I know what you mean, I'm afraid to go pick out an exhaust when I get my 240 cause I don't want it to sound like a Civic with a fart can. And it's L o g i k. ;-)

12-19-2004, 09:29 PM
ok i missed it by the "g" but you know exactly what i mean my friend has a damn accord with a fart cannon on it lmao and i do not want my sexy 240 to have that bad sound when i get one.

A turbocharged engine gives off a much quieter exhaust note than a Naturally Asperated(NA) engine. A turbocharger actually uses noise, among other things, to power the compressor wheel. It also uses exhaust pressure and heat. Noise is probably the least important of the three, but it is used. Well so the turbine absorbs some of that noise and converts it to energy leaving much less noise out of the tailpipe. Hence quieter. Plus the noise has to go through the turbine housing and much of it is baffled inside the housing. You will get more backfires in a turbocharged car though. At least I do! As for your exhaust choice, the Apexi N1 duals are really deep and pretty quiet. Look into them.

Is the N1 Dual full stainless?
D-Bo
12-19-2004, 10:11 PM
piping is titanium but the 'canisters' are SUS 304 stainless steal. STRAIGHT from the apexi website and i don't know what the hell SUS 304 is so don't ask
nissanfanatic
12-19-2004, 10:28 PM
Nah, the piping is some kind of steel, probably mild steel of some kind, coated with titanium particle coating. N1 is the same way and mine hasn't rusted after 10 months so I'm still happy.
http://apexi-usa.com/exhausts_n1dual.asp
The SUS 304 is just a grade of steel. Even metal is rated these days. The ratings have to do with thier expansion rates and ability to handle abuse.
