DOHC = cobra and Mach 1. and wow. Don't those scions have like 110hp? If you have to mod your car to beat a scion I'd suggest saving up and buying a new car.

burntrice087
12-19-2004, 08:45 PM
No the Scion tC has 160Hp..the lesser xB's and xA's have 115HP

doesn't the bullitt mustang have dohc too??

dont' get a V8 stang next but if you do, get a 5.0

get something w/ more potential like a turbo eclipse the 4.6 stangs aren't as easy to mod as those and the eclipses' would be 2-400lb lighter

dampachi
12-20-2004, 03:10 PM
The bullit is a 2V SOHC. And mod motors are quite easy to mod..they're a little bit more expensive to work on but they're just as potent as 5.0s.

well.. nothing wrong with scion tc's... i like them personally. 30 mpg and it looks cool. 160 stock hp with the option for a sc (200hp) not too shabby. it's not too heavy, and it's got some really good features off the floor. I personally would get one if i had the 17k for it. Dampachi, i don't know what you drive, but have you raced one? I've seen them beat v6 stangs easy. Now, v8's on the other hand would own them anyday, but don't bash a car just because of a name... i mean cmon, the cavalier has the same brand name as the corvette... don't judge one type of car (scion) to the other models within...

You guys do realize that when you race a tC, you're essentially racing a Camry, right?

sorry but those tc are sweet my friend took me on a little tour of the neighborhood in his and l like the ride quality. ohh by the way it seems i got lucky on christmas eve... 2 mustang cobras fell to me on a long range highway race dealing with traffic.(dampachi yes, 2 cobras, and yes lots of traffic but none the less they tried me and i proved the smaller car is more nimble than the big mustang)i guess i was able to call the better spots than they did

+1 to the list of srt4 owners who believe they own the fastest sports car ever. Congratz on your ferrari killer dude. Dealing with trafic too, thats awesome just like F&F, then the red cobra went under the truck and got wrecked right....god people with slow slow mustangs are just all idiots and should bow down to the Import-wannabe american cars. Im sorry but once Dam is done with his car, id put my bank account on him winning.

I was being sarcastic with my 'whats a scion comment'. and drifty..you mean you drove like an idiot weaving in and out of traffic while two cobras laughed at you? Wow, good job. I personally wont even mess with any car that does that sort of thing. I've seen wayyy too many bad accidents to try to follow some idiot down the highway weaving through traffic at 80, 90, or even 100mph. $300 will get a cobra into 11s. and unless your SRT-4 is very very modified...I'd say you're pretty easy prey for even a stock mustang cobra. of course, i mean the 03-04 models. I'd believe you taking a 99 anyday. hell, I can take a 99. but yeah...anybody to go weaving in and out of traffic in a 390hp rear wheel drive car is quite the moron and doesn't plan on keeping his car very long. but hey, if you feel like you accomplished something..that's cool. I won't try to steal your thunder...but, try lining up with them next time.

Is the TRD supercharger even out yet? Im not sure but I dont think so. To me this thing is competition mainly with a Civic SI. 160 horse on both, lil more torque on the TC. Technicly both have potential, but look what most do to the SI..stickers. The way the TC was marketed im sure similar will happen with it. Also what is a dealer going to charge for an installed supercharger? Im pretty sure for alil more you could get a turbo kit for the car that would push you far past 200hp.

silentscreams85
12-30-2004, 12:04 AM
the TRD supercharger has not been released yet, as of right now its release date is in Feb. * originally supposed to be Nov.* and yes turbo would be a great option * minus the lag time* but also keep in mind the supercharger does not void the cars warranty and even comes with its own...only real downside to that is gonna be the price tag...between 3-4k right now...meaning no forced induction for me until i pay my car off =/

I know warranty is going to be a problem, but if the warranty is not as long as your paying your car off, I would wait till after and get a turbo. A small turbo will have minimal lag, and will still put you well above 200hp.

12-30-2004, 02:09 AM
well either way, that's the only 4cyl i'd want right now... it's cheap... well that and an tiburon.. black... 01 manual...

SiGNAL748
12-30-2004, 10:04 PM
Considering its larger displacement (compared to most japanese 4 bangers), the tC has a lot of potential if boosted. TRD should skip out on the blower and go back to their turbo roots.

Why dont you just drop a V8 in ur V6 an do the work. We did that with a 5.0 but I dont know how compatible 97 is.

The Tc reminds me greatly of the new volvo S40. Has anyone seen the new tuner s40 volvo is planin on releasing.

It's kinda funny how most threads up as a battle about the Evo and Sti. Even though it may have been a race about a civic and a truck. Interesting ain't it. Plus, another thing. Why do most of Burntrices threads end up like 4-5 pages long and completely off subject of how it started? Late...

We should make a sticky saying "STI vs Evo ends in Tie"

... and that you should drive both yourself, and decide. Forget magazine articles, because they cant articulate the feeling either cars will give you, which with either would be awesome.

People need to stop mentioning the SC option as if its come out, the tC motor has already been proven to make high HP #'s, and its a pretty nice looking nice ride. But, like the RSX-S, damn do I wish they were offered in RWD...

(Oh and the MR2 takes it for my fav 4CYL Turbo, but then again, I dont like 4 doors , AWD, their interiors, or their unsporty-looks. But still respect the hell out of both of them.)
