Mounting Amp On Sub Box

As the title suggests is there anything bad about mounting your amp on top of the sub box. I have a sealed boxed and if I drill the holes for the amp will it still sound fine? Thanks

not a good idea, since its a sealed box, im guna assume its for 1 sub and ur guna screw the amp in in the center of the box? all the "flexing" from the box is going to mess up ur amp sooner or later, just screw the amp in somewhere that isn't on ur box

The box is dual 10"s with sealed chambers would that still make the amp flex?

if you mount it right in the center ontop of the dividing piece of wood there willbe less flex but it is NOT a good idea, just mount it somewhere else, lessens the chance of it getting jacked

I have 2 12" kicker comp vr's and i have a sealed box w/amp mounted on the back of the box. I have not had any trouble. I have not noticed any difference in the sound from when the amp was mounted on my back seat.

If the box flexed that much he should think about bracing and such. You wont have any problems mounting it on top.

it shouldn't be a problem ....... just consider it an option - there are plenty of other places to mount the amp as well

I dont like doing it and i never will, i always either mount it on the seat back or somewhere not on the box, because what happens if you need to take the box out one day for some reason, than you have to disconnect everything from the amp also. :2cents:

Yea really depends on what your doing with it too.
I cant do it, because I want to be able to pull my box before track days or racing, so I dont want to have to worry about disconnecting whole amp.

What about vibration will that be a problem? I would think since it is a sealed box it would vibrate more.

yep, and there are more vibrations in the chassis of the car than on the box anyway

A correctly built sealed box (right wood thickness and an airtight seal) shouldn't vibrate much and flex at all. Ported boxes are where you really have to watch it, because they are under a LOT more stress.
