Does anyone know how to tell if coolant is in the exhaust? i go to a local car auction and they will have whats wrong with the car written on the window.
sometimes, coolant in exhaust, or "water in oil" sometimes even " oil in water"
i know all 3 of these mean headgasket problems, but how do you tell if their is coolant out the exhaust?

The exhaust will have the sweet smell of antifreeze.
Use your nose.

it may also be "white" smoke.

Not to be confused with the normal cold start issue. There could be "white" smoke but make sure the car is warmed up before looking for it.

thanks for the advice. gladly i dont think i have a problem. just valve cover gaskets. and not even sure that the little overheat caused that.. its probablyone of those 80k mile things that buicks do. i know the little seep wont hurt anything, i just get tired of the smell.
