What are the advantages of advancing the timing of your engine? I have been told that it is not good to do, dont ask me why though? Does this have to be done by a mechanic, or is it fairly easy to do yourself? If possible, can someone explain how to do it. What are the possible HP gains from this?

Dom care to share your experience. ;)
If you advance your timing you will HAVE to run a premium grade of gas. Advantages are free horsepower and better response. You can do it yourself but you need a timing light and there is a rain dance you have to do to put the car in timing mode.
