Does anyone know the maximum width on rims you can put on a 2000 a4 1.8t quattro. With h and r coilovers on it. I want 18 inch by 8.5. Does anyone know if they will fit. And if they do will they be realistic? Will my car still be able to BANG around corners. I am going for handling purposes. Thanks Guys!! Send me some info..

it'll fit..depending on the offset of the wheel and the width tire you get..

Handling will be awesome with coilovers. But 17" will be a bit better due weight of the rim and alleviating unsprung weight; because lightweight 18" rims are VERY expensive. If your pockets are deep, then you should be ok just as Marked001 mentioned. I have 18x8.5 w/an offset of +35 all around on my A4 2.8 and with all the potholes in this area, I've had no problems with rubbing. But I have not lowered it yet, because I'm saving for a good set of Coilovers that'll set me back almost $2000.
