Installing Radio

I just bought a 2000 F-150 and was wondering about installing an aftermarket cd player in it. If I remove the factory stereo, will it still work if I need to put it back in the truck. My mom has a 2001 pontiac van that if you remove the stereo, it locks it and makes it useless and un-usable. Some sort of theft deterent system. I just wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen with this radio. This is my first newer Ford vehicle. I had a 1997 Ram (avatar pic) that I wrecked last month. Thanks for any help.

The theft detterent system can be unlocked by a dealer mechanic. That is a Delco (GM) feature. Your Ford radio won't do that. Just be sure use a quick connect plug adapter. Don't cut any wires so you can switch back the factory without affecting resale/trade.

Ah, it don't even matter now. I already changed it. Turns out, the factory radio was broken anyway. It wouldn't turn off or switch out of AM, so I put in an after market radio. I got the installation kit so if I need to put the factory stereo back in it's no problem. Thanks for the help.
