Did I fry my HU?

I was attempting to install a JVC deck in my 95 Explorer (w/ the premium sound). I was having tons of problems trying to hook it up, most of which rooted from the damn amp, but I did get power to the deck, just no sound. But here's the thing, while I was trying to figure out what to do with the wiring for the amp, I touched the amp ignition wire to two connected wires, I believe they were the ground wires. The connection resulted in a spark. When I turned the truck on again, the HU wouldn't come on. I reconnected the old HU and that won't come on either. All of the other electrical in the car works fine. I figure either the amp helps in powering the deck, and I fried the amp, or I fucked everything cause I have no idea what I'm doing. This is the second ford i've tried hooking this deck up to... it will be the last. If someone could maybe just let me know if I fried the HU so I don't waste time and money in trying to get it installed properly. Thank you.

it sounds like you just blew an acc fuse, check the fuse panel by the steering wheel and the fuse box in the engine bay, you should find a blown one in one of those spots

i have a 96 that i just put my head unit in a few months ago.. i wish i couldve gotten to you sooner to tell you to just take it in and have it done. I ordered it from crutchfield so i got all the installation stuff for free, but basically you have to run new speaker wires into the back and connect them to the amp where the old wires used to be. im sure you would have to buy this amp bypass cord though cause they have a special connection that fits into the amp. i couldve just purchased the integration kit though and kind of wish i did. this lets you just plug the old wires from the amp into your head unit so that you can still use your amp and you wouldnt have to take the 4 hours to run new ones and disconnect/remove the old amp.

check your fuses and then if youre going to still try to finsih the install yourself, ill try to help you out if youre having any problems

Alright, I went and checked the fuses. There are three that have to do with the sound system, I replaced one, flipped another and the other wasn't even there. I got one in the empty slot labeled "luxury sound". This did it, I actually did get power back to the HU, so I didn't fry that (phew!). Though, I went to shove all the wires back into the slot so I could put it away and come back to get further instruction... but when I turned the truck back on, no power again to the HU. Nothing changed at all, I only put it all inside the dash. I tried messing with the fuses a little more and redoing the power wiring, but to no avail. I suppose I should just get it done professionally (anyone know the cost approximately?). I'm not really sure where to go from here, any advice would be appreciated.

are u sure u didnt blow the fuses again?

because you didnt tape up the speaker wires that were probably just hanging around, it probably blew another fuse
